This book will help both mature and new investors. There are very few books available on Indian Investors. The most important benefit of books on Indian investors is that one can understand the companies which are being discussed better and can relate themselves to the companies being discussed. The book contains investing journey of 11 investors. I am definitely going to read this book regularly to relate my experience with these super-investors investing process and in turn to continue to improve my own investing process. The short review is JUST BUY THE BOOK.

Similiar to Jack Schwager and his legendary Market Wizard series, the authors have interviewed some of the best investors in the country and attempted to find out what made them tick.
Each investor explains his investor journey in detail and walks thru his successes and misses.
What I find amazing is the amount of wealth they have been able to build despite humble beginnings.
One thing that struck me was that each investor, to paraphrase Frank Sinatra, “did it my way”

Great Book — Must reader for all the way from rookie to seasoned investors. Great to see all the investors
having similar strategy — buy good companies at reasonable valuation, hold them for long and ride
the market volatility. My favorite chapters are — Ramesh Damani, Ramdeo Agrawal, Hiren Ved

Indian equity markets were mature enough from a long time, but there was a paucity of information on how the famous investors in India invest and think. whatever information was available through internet was either not enough or not reliable. Vishaal and Saurabh have brought out this masterpiece and have done a great service to the amateur investor community of india. its not really a book but a collection of gems of information which will take time to digest, assimilate and then apply. reading about the legends in the book makes one realize not only their investment philosophy but also how they conduct their life in general. One thing that comes about is their humility. I bought two copies of the book. one i have at home and other at office desk so that i can reffer back to it whenever i feel like. Hope to read more books from the authors about other legendary investors too.

While books on Investing are plenty, very few are authored by Indian’s themselves and an even smaller sub-sect of them are actually worth spending time and money.
Masterclass with Super-Investors is one of the rare books that qualifies on both criteria. The book has been written in the style of Market Wizard series by Jack Schwager. The authors have chosen Individuals most of whom are well known in the Industry and gone ahead trying to understand their path, their successes and their failures.
While the book is a good read for all class of investors – from beginners to experienced professionals, I do think that those without a firm grasp of the framework and who haven’t seen the cycles may actually get the wrong impressions on how to go about generating wealth through markets.

Dhilan Kothari –
Excellent Book & also a must for every Indian Investor to read so as to take their decision before investing.
Chinmay bhagwat –
Good book. I enjoyed all the interviews except that of mr Kenneth andrade, found it difficult to digest. I hope that you come with a second book which would contain interviews of some very private investors like prof shivanand mankekar and mr RK Damani
Nandeesha m –

Chitresh Mody –

Satish –
This is one of the best books to read for Indian Investors in their early days, This book is more helpful if you are have spent 2-3 years in the market.
Jayakumar –
Don’t get scared about 400 pages, If you are someone with passion on Indian equities or Investing in general
it should not take you more than a week to complete it. I had this is pre notion that this will be going to
be like a Business Channel interview with lot of cliche, but it is not. Its a consolidation of thoughts,
narration of journey each had to go through to reach the pinnacle. It really opens up how you need approach
investing and how much effort you have to put in etc.
Loved the idea that each investor is unique beginning from how they find idea to how they sell and whats their
daily routine is. Set of questions presented to each investor had real significance and authors were careful
enough to frame it. Overall it opened up and it gave me a whole new dimension on the effort I had to put, the way
I have to think and how big the gains can be.
Pros:
Case studies are excellent. They give details about how the idea is generated, how the conviction was, how
capital was allocated and finally how that idea turned to be a multi bagger.
At times, many answers provide new learning. E.g. DMART’s valuation is still a dilemma for many. In one of the
chapter, Rajasekhar (Padon my typo) gave a simple solution how the valuation can be interpreted for DMART. Its
a simple analysis but it has lot of insight built to it.
Provide too much details about each investor and it is not at all the way you see it in a business media, or
investing conferences. Each personalities really opens up about their life and investing journey which is
amazing.
Cons:
May be authors approached more on a text book approach. Could have tried to back it up with some more
narratives to make it interesting.
Verdict:
Overall a fresh approach about Indian investing and definitely a read for any type of investors. One question,
Can’t you guys do a Second part with New set of Investors. Cheers !!!
Rajneesh –
The thorough approach of the authors definitely shines through in this book. It is very well organized and the questions are of high quality. The essay length answers and fairly long chapters are particularly welcome as they are usually a rarity in the books of this nature. The book definitely adds value to the investment process.
Just wish there was a digital copy of it so that it would be easier to annotate and retrieve for future reference. Nonetheless, this is arguably one of the best books to come out in Indian Investment literature and the authors definitely deserve kudos for their significant efforts.
Anand Sanghvi –
I have read half the book so far & I must compliment the authors for this wonderful book. There are lot of takeaways from it, primarily the minute & broad thought processes of the investors & lessons to be learnt from their success & failure. There was till now no book which really documented the stories of successful Indian investors. This book does a lot to fill that void
Gurjeev –
Excellent book. All investors should read. Has tons of knowledge, very insightful and informative.
This book can be called the Bible of the Indian Stock Market. It has wisdom of so many years combined from all the master investors. Must read for all. Infant its a must read once a year.
bobby george poothullil –

Vinod Chethikkat –

This should be the first investing book any investor should buy.
Even if you don’t understand investing, this book will clearly and exactly
reveal you the path to follow.
Stories from biggest investors which you won’t get anywhere.
Outstanding investors, brilliantly written in easy to understand language.
Sincere thanks to Vishal Mittal and Saurabh Basrar.
.
Chintan Patel –
Great learnings from people who have been successful in the Indian stock market.
Also, it will be great if you can create a list of all books recommended by the super-investors on your website or add it to the next edition of the book.
Poornesh –
Its fantastic book. Commendable work. you both put the best effort
to bring out the thought process of investors which is very helpful
for investors. There are wonderful lessons throughout. My only
disappointment is Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was not included- and its the
biggest drawback of the book. Dont stop here, bring out part -2. All
the best.
Abhijit pawar –
I dont think I could get such detailed insights about Indian investor’s anywhere. The stock picking criterion given was unheard,Humbleness of Raamdeo Ji, Wisdom of Ramesh Ji, courageous Vijay kedia Ji have inspired me. I emptied my head while coming to Mumbai so that I could pack as much wisdom, delivered by speakers.
Cyril A –
Great book. Must read for the investor who wishes to make extra ordinary returns. The hardcover, though slightly expensive, should last long. After all, you have to revise!
BRIJESH PATEL –
